Another WTF moment + ALERT

From email:

I live on the 10900-11000 block of Albany. This morning, (07/26) at about 5:10 a.m., a neighbor awoke to find a white male in his 20's, attempting to force his way into her house. He was pounding on her door and kicking it. The neighbor is a female, home with 2 young children, and whose husband was out of town. the man was about 6', slender build, white T-Shirt, tatoos on his arms.
When she called 911, she was told no cars were available, but one would be sent. She called a minute or so later to say the man was now walking around her back yard trying the rear door and garage door, the call taker dismissively told her, "we have no cars available, what do you want me to do?". This neighbor calls another neighbor, married to CPD, to ask what she should do, neighbor #2 gives her the desk phone # at Dist. 22.
The guy at the desk says all cars are busy at a motorcycle accident, and what she needs is a gun. No shit Sherlock! He also said her call was not a priority.
I like and respect our members of the CPD. OEMC not so much. I don't have the contacts to find out who might have been working the desk at Dist.22 this morning, but if true, and I have no reason to doubt my neighbor, what a grade A asshole.
Someone trying to force his way into a home is not a priority call? Well here's a wake up call, you haven't heard the end of this.
In the meantime, area residents beware, you are truly on your own. Have your own plan of protection, and phone numbers of neighbors who might be willing to assist you.

Is this true? We have been saying for the longest time that the one car we have on our beat hardly ever gets to stay on the beat. Reason being is that it always gets moved east. Someone was potentially trying to break into a home and it does not get a priority 1A and deserve a police response? Something tells me the call taker never made this a burglary in progress call and probably made it some sort of trespass so that it would not get a high priority police response.

As for the desk person that answered the phone in the 22nd district, we find no fault there. The person that answered the phone has no control over police manpower and was truly helpless when it comes to the individual calling the station. The desk person can't leave the station and respond. It doesn't work that way. And ultimately, the person on the desk was exactly right, get a gun and protect yourself. We are at a point where no politician, boss, or anyone else is going to have our back but ourselves.

Again, we are the good and the evil is preying upon us. Do not let your guard down and be ready to fight. Start phone trees with your neighbors. Set up email chains for your neighbors. Pass the word around about everything that happens so that everyone knows. And please email or comment us about all that is happening. We will put it on the blog. Keep advocating to our alderman and our police that we need more forced patrol of 2211's beat. It works that way in the 008th District, why can't it work that way in the 022nd district.

Look at the description of the offender. Use that description and keep your eyes open. Call the police if you see this person.

(FYI, we are sure the date was supposed to be 6/26)

Not to sound callous but who gives a crap about some shithead who kills himself on a motorcycle in Roseland at 4am. Keep the police on our beat where they can do some good. It's a shame that a taxpayer cannot get any police service at that hour.

Who in the name of God leaves his wife and two children home alone with no means of protection?!?!
I could care less what the 'laws' are, if I'm not home my wife has a gun--and knows how to use it!
What's more important, obeying an unconsitutional law or keeping your family alive???

You can't blame the husband on this one. Put the blame where it really lies, with the incompetence in the mayors office, the 22nd district commander and the 19the ward. If we had the police that ultimately WE pay for, this woman would have received the response and protection she deserves!

I hear what you're saying but people can not live their lives because they live in a corrupt city who panders to those that put nothing into the system but take everything out.

Maybe the wife doesn't feel comfortable having a weapon in the house. The problem with white people is that they take care of their own business and don't rely on the government for every freaking thing they need. They pay their own way and what has happened is that the "system" has gotten so far out of balance, that law-abiding, tax-paying people in a predominantly white geographic area don't even have access to simple, basic services.

Think about this for a moment. This women calls the police because her home, her life and the life of her children are on the line and not one single squad car is available, not one.

What do you call that? Jesus. Then someone starts a blog like this and gets nothing but grief from the powers that be and their friends because they are going to put a little heat under the ass of the 19th. Take care of your constituents Ginger, and you have nothing to worry about. Don't spread us thin because of shitheads in the ghetto living large and out of control. The reason they need such a police response is because they act like fucking animals anytime something happens. Look at that kid who was out at 10:30pm urinating in a bush. Uncle and Daddy attacking first responders? What the fuck?

Maybe WE need to start marching and calling the media everytime we are discriminated against.

It's time for a fucking change.

Hmmmmm, sounds like he was drunk or on drugs. But according to some people on this blog that's not a big enough bust.

No jobs for the young white man in this city were the new *igger. Women and Minorities encourged to apply even though whites are a minority in Chicago. Do you really think duke gives a shit about you? You are not worthy of a police response.

Man threatens officer

An 18-year-old Chicago man was charged with assault after he made a profane verbal threat to a female police officer.

Michael Chausse, of the 11000 block of Drake Avenue, was arrested after causing a disturbance when police questioned a friend of his June 7 at 110th Street and Homan Avenue, police said. They said Chausse began shouting racial slurs and profanities and was arrested.

He then threatened to harm the female officer, saying, "You better hope I don't catch you when you're alone because I'll (mess) you up," according to police.

Last Wednesday when the power went out, 2 male whites drove up on my driveway. Vehicle they were in was a small 4 dr., green chevy. Passenger got out and said he saw an ad. for my car. Told both to get loss. The plate on the car was X560748. I had it checked and the plates come back stolen out of Homewood.

I call bs on part of the story ... No 911 call taker would be in a position to know whether or not cars were available or not. They are not sitting at the zone. So I that part of the story is definately Bullshit ...

This is why we need more than 4 people at beat meetings. If I am not working for the next meeting I will print this out and hand it to the Commander and ask for a response.

How can you blame the husband? You don't know why he was out of town. Fact of the matter is, she needed help and as usual our city,OEMC,AND 022 LET HER DOWN

There was a supreme court ruling that said it is not the job of the police to prevent crime. I believe it was in 2005 that the ruling was handed down.

The day I heard that ruling was the day I bought a firearm and learned how to use it. I taught my wife how to use firearms also, and I'm more than confident that if someone were to break in in my absence there would be a news story about a woman killing a burglar. I also became active in promoting firearm ownership, training, and self defense. Nobody should choose to be a victim when there are options.

Of course I am in Merrionette Park where we can own handguns (don't worry, it should be legal in Chicago soon, the supreme court is ruling Monday!), but 00 buckshot from a 12ga shotgun will do the trick for folks in Chicago.

I live near there and a few neighbors related the same story which happened in the early morning hours of Saturday. It does matter who told the lady no cars were avaialable the point is no one responded.

There are two A/2 detectives, from the neighborhood, who patrol Mount Greenwood in the wee hours. Unfortunately one of them went to days on change day and the other is on furlough.

Some nights after 1 a.m. or so they are the only thing out there.

"who gives a crap about some shithead who kills himself on a motorcycle in Roseland"

It's the job of the police to handle traffic crashes, besides Edmaire and Hale is not Roseland.

The story is very upsetting to me, but there are holes in it. I'm sure that the man did try to get into the house but it seems to be embellished. As far as the 022 Desk every one of them live on the west end of 022 and if there was a call such as this one they would have sent it out over the air. A vast majority of 022 police officers and sergeants, on the 1st watch, live on 2211 and 2212's beat. We all have a vested interest in the goings on of the west end. If that job came out over the air we would have dropped what we were doing and went.
The motorcycle accident only had two cars assigned.

The problem in 022 is that there are only 3 beats per sector. Which means only 9 beat cars and a wagon. So on a given night there are only 10 to 12 cars out a night. With arrest and radio assignments, lunches, personals, and details most evenings there are NO cars available to answer 911 calls. 022 needs to add more beat cars.

This is exactly why we need a contract with a suburban police department to handle our 911 "overflow."

I'm sure Merrionette Park, Evergreen Park, or Oak Lawn would be there in a minute if authorized!

there were 2 or 3 calls re: the male white trying to FORCE his way into a home. whether he's lost while drunk/high or trying to commit a burglary is irrelevent. the call was categorized as a suspiecious person and not a burglary in progress like it should have been. this one is the fault of the calltaker. its the commander/alderman/city counsil to only allow 3 beats per sector and to leave to west end unprotected.

There are two details running on 2nd and 3rd watches, one on Church Street and a second at the Racine Courts. The Racine Courts detail continues to the 1st Watch. The Tactical Team mans the Racine Courts detail on 2nd and 3rd Watches and a beat car sits on Church Street. The Tact guys can't stand being there, a complete waist of manpower. The Courts detail is a James Jackson's order, who knows why the Church Street detail is there. These types of details have been going on for years at an enormous cost to the tax payers. I say let them kill each other and send the police to clean up the mess. That way you take care of two problems, the dead guy can't cause havoc anymore and the bad guy goes to prison. Two problems solved.

Church Street is a block over from Hermosa. A high ranking police official is the owner of the home at 11218 S. Hermosa. Hard to believe, but check the Cook County Recorder's website.

Question: Is James Jackson black?

---not a cop

The Church st./Racine Courts detail stems from a homicide last summer or early fall. The folks on Church st. and the folks in Racine Courts were shooting back and forth at each other.

Why it is still up no one can imagine. On the midnight watch, almost every single night, 2211 is sent to Racine Courts about 0100 or 0200 hrs. If 2212 is down on an arrrest and 2213 is on lunch or an assignment, the nearest squad is coming from near 87th/Halsted maybe. What a joke?

Despite saying she is unaware of this, Ginger has known for a long time. An officer who is hooked up to the ward organization brought it to her personal attention months ago. He himself said so.

And a final note. Just because an officer lives on 2211 does not mean he will do the right thing. A couple of them are alright but the others would sooner retire than go on aggressive patrol in Mount Greenwood.

Anonymous said...

With the gun ban being struck down.......if someone is attempting to break into your home, can you shoot the offender if he/she is outside your door or must you wait until he/she is in your home?

This story was a conversation starter for the neighborhood. What would you do in this situation? My mom said to spray hornet spray at the offender while calling 911.

What happened next? Offender scared away, caught, or broke in?

Anonymous said...

Who writes this shit. This is bullshit. The call taker is just that. A call taker. They take the info and sent to the dispatcher via computer. The call taker doesn't dispatch Police. They do not have the info on what patrol cars are busy doing. So to say that the Call taker said there aren't any cars available is a lot of HOOEY.

That was a BS case put on those kids. 2211 is afraid of messing with people from outside the neighborhood so they pick on neighborhood kids.

Linda said...

Ok dumb question but where can we take gun safety lessons?
Can anyone give me that info?

Anonymous said...

I call bullshit on this story. Well partially.

How would a call taker know wheather or not there are cars up on any particualr zone? The call takers do not dispatch jobs to the cars on the beat, they transfer them. And the zone 9 distpatcher has three or four other zones seated around them, so a call taker would have to more or less yell or at least speak loudly to have any kind of conversation with a call taker.

Not to take away from any importance of a neighborhood issue, but I suspect this person is trying to stir up those in MG. As for the desk person, well I can't say i have ever seen a desk person even bother to look on the P-CAD and try to figure out who is up and who is not. And I highly suspect that no officer in this climate would urge a citizen to violate a (now over turned) city ordinance. And to say something to the effect of someone's police matter is not important or a priority is highly unprofessional and could earn that person some time.

All I am saying is that some of this doesn't ad up

I don't know where you are getting your information, but per the W/C 2211 is never assigned to the Racine Courts detail. 2211 has not been assigned to the courts in the last 8 months I've worked 1st watch in 022. Get your facts straight.

****James Jackson is the Assistant Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, formally the 1st Deputy, supposedly the second man in charge.

And might I add James Jackson is a good guy. No matter who is in charge they are set to fail until the City hires more Police and get some cars

Anonymous said...

also, for the people moaning and groaning....at that hour there are about 5-6 cars up at best due to the new schedule....and if some are heading in for checkoff, on lunch personals, jobs or arrests then what do u know there will be no cars available!!!

and fyi suspicious person and burglary in progress have the same priority...

If you call, get the name of the person. If you get a garbage response like that, demand to speak to a Supv. and get his/her name.

Usually just asking for the Supv., will force the call taker to do the right thing.
