Attempted armed robbery on Friday, July 30th at 10547 S. Artesian at approximately 1:45 a.m. Young man was walking back from the bars and was approached by two black males, one from behind and one in front. Black males pointed a gun at him and demanded he turn over everything he had, to which the young man replied he did not have anything. Offenders became quite angry and began running off, while SHOOTING their gun in the direction of the victim. A neighbor's car windows were shot out in the process. Victim chased the offenders to their getaway car around in the alley and got a plate number. Getaway car came back stolen. No arrests made.
We all go out and have a tasty beverage from time to time. After a night of partying and enjoying yourself, you have to attempt to be conscious after you leave. You are entering a world where police protection is slim and the evil element is around you and hunting.
Our advice, team up for walking trips to cars, cabs, etc. If you are the police and decide to go out drinking, BRING YOUR GUN! If you have to use the gun while you have some alcohol in your system, so be it. Dare the city and county to prosecute or throw you under the bus for protecting yourself or someone else. It would result on egg in the face of those politicians. We'll take life over our job in every instance.
Also, remember these assholes that did this are still out there. They were bold to attempt it on a weekend night. They didn't win, but they learned from their experience. An experienced robber is much worse than the first time robber. Be on alert when at the bars.

From the comments it has been learned that a male subject attempted to lure a young girl playing in her front yard, at 105th and Trumbull. There was a police report done, but we do not have the details on the description of the offender. If anyone has the information, please send it to us or post it in the comments.
Please, be careful with your children and letting them play alone in exposed front yards. Who knows who is lurking. Teach those kids to not trust strangers.

Keep an eye out for 2 black males in a yellow truck passing out phone books. They were spotted on Trumbull (between 111th and 112th Pl) dropping off 1 Male Black and 2 others stayed in the truck. One walked down the street stopping at gang ways pressing a small remote with a red light. For those of you that don't know, Garage doors only have so many codes, they possibly may be trying to find the one that works. Just be aware of whats going on around your house.
And the truck they are driving is great cover and transportation for all of the stuff they will steal from your garage.
Get the information from the truck. Get the company they work for and at least get them fired. Call 911 when you seem them and explain what they are doing with the dispatcher. Express the urgency to have a car check them out. Say it appears they are trying to burglarize someone's garage. Hopefully a dispatcher will dispatch the call as a burglary in progress. Give it a more priority response.

Robbery Attempt and Arrest
My stepson Gary was jumped last night/early this morning by 2 blacks from Englewood.Gary is a night manager at the BurgerKing on 111th and Kedzie and was on his way to work,was running late and on foot,since the busses don't run down 111thst. after midnight.Although I advise him to be aware of his surroundings especially at that time of night,he was yakking on his phone,and they jumped him between the cemeteries.Thank God a detective either going or coming from work saw what was going on,stopped,and these 2 took off.A couple of off-duty cops standing near Hippo's got involved,and these bum's were arrested.If my detail's are a little sketchy,this is what Gary told me,not from a police report.His cell was'nt recovered, but other items were.However he did hear that they were just looking for someone to rob in Beverly or M.G.(Candyland!).His ear looks like a 'toon ear where he was struck,he's shook,but otherwise allright.I just want to thank from the bottom of my heart,the officer's who got involved.Thank you,Thank you!I'll glady pop for some adult beverages at your favorite watering hole.We all need to be aware and involved.Carmen G.(P.S)I will also post at S.C.C or Shaved.

The anger that swells up inside of us is palpable because our politicians make us the prey. They speak of nothing of this evil for fear of racial backlash. They do not allow us to protect ourselves and then they throw 1 beat car on our beat. If Gary was allowed to carry a handgun, it is possible that Gary's ear would be normal and 2 shitheads would be dead. And the world would be a better place.
Instead, Gary was left to fend for himself in a neighborhood that is generally good, but prime for attack.
That being said, thank you off duty detective. You may have saved a life. You did your job off duty and we are proud. Also, thank you off duty officers that got involved as well. You may have saved 2 lives. We stress off duty because it appears that we are protecting ourselves at this point and we are proud of that. We are paying attention, citizens and police.
Hope for a quick recovery for Gary. Hope for a long stay in prison for the ignorant. We know that one of these is going to happen for sure, the other....not so much.

Could some of our police readers verify this? If true, let's see if we can catch this asshole dirty. Hell, they don't prosecute for drug or violent crimes, but they will prosecute for traffic. A beating in email
july 5th. 1:00 a.m. two boys petting a dog outside a party at 113th/whipple while chatting with the owners while their two friends walked ahead of them. the friends who walked ahead were attacked by five young men who jumped out of a car. when the boys petting the dog tried to reason with the attackers and talk it out they were then attacked from behind by the people at the party that they were just talking to/petting their dog. belts and keys were used to beat the boys. one boy received four staples in his head. they were outnumbered 4:1. no wallets were stolen. the victims and attackers did not know each other. senseless crime. police report filed and found that the owner of the house was previously arrested for obstruction of justice. hitting a police officer while his friend was being arrested.

And seeing how our government won't let us arm ourselves, we have to choose our battles wisely.

Another WTF moment + ALERT

I live on the 10900-11000 block of Albany. This morning, (07/26) at about 5:10 a.m., a neighbor awoke to find a white male in his 20's, attempting to force his way into her house. He was pounding on her door and kicking it. The neighbor is a female, home with 2 young children, and whose husband was out of town. the man was about 6', slender build, white T-Shirt, tatoos on his arms.
When she called 911, she was told no cars were available, but one would be sent. She called a minute or so later to say the man was now walking around her back yard trying the rear door and garage door, the call taker dismissively told her, "we have no cars available, what do you want me to do?". This neighbor calls another neighbor, married to CPD, to ask what she should do, neighbor #2 gives her the desk phone # at Dist. 22.
The guy at the desk says all cars are busy at a motorcycle accident, and what she needs is a gun. No shit Sherlock! He also said her call was not a priority.
I like and respect our members of the CPD. OEMC not so much. I don't have the contacts to find out who might have been working the desk at Dist.22 this morning, but if true, and I have no reason to doubt my neighbor, what a grade A asshole.
Someone trying to force his way into a home is not a priority call? Well here's a wake up call, you haven't heard the end of this.
In the meantime, area residents beware, you are truly on your own. Have your own plan of protection, and phone numbers of neighbors who might be willing to assist you.
Is this true? We have been saying for the longest time that the one car we have on our beat hardly ever gets to stay on the beat. Reason being is that it always gets moved east. Someone was potentially trying to break into a home and it does not get a priority 1A and deserve a police response? Something tells me the call taker never made this a burglary in progress call and probably made it some sort of trespass so that it would not get a high priority police response.
As for the desk person that answered the phone in the 22nd district, we find no fault there. The person that answered the phone has no control over police manpower and was truly helpless when it comes to the individual calling the station. The desk person can't leave the station and respond. It doesn't work that way. And ultimately, the person on the desk was exactly right, get a gun and protect yourself. We are at a point where no politician, boss, or anyone else is going to have our back but ourselves.
Again, we are the good and the evil is preying upon us. Do not let your guard down and be ready to fight. Start phone trees with your neighbors. Set up email chains for your neighbors. Pass the word around about everything that happens so that everyone knows. And please email or comment us about all that is happening. We will put it on the blog. Keep advocating to our alderman and our police that we need more forced patrol of 2211's beat. It works that way in the 008th District, why can't it work that way in the 022nd district.
Look at the description of the offender. Use that description and keep your eyes open. Call the police if you see this person.

We have been monitoring the comments and we feel that the amount of chatter regarding some shady individuals is definitely worth a post dedicated to it.
We are hearing of a male black and a male white driving some sort of yellow van, possibly with Florida plates, going door to door telling people that they have a food delivery. Police were called, (which is good), and they left the area. These individuals were seen at 116th and Homan/St. Louis.
What could this be? Our thoughts turn to looking for an opportunity to commit some sort of burglary or home invasion. They are looking for an easy way in and a way to see what someone might have in their home. They needed an excuse to come to the door and a delivery of food seems to be the excuse.
What we also need to be aware of is that this is definitely not some delivery people making a mistake. They were seen going door to door on at least 2 different blocks asking people about food. That is extremely odd and we need to be on a lookout for them.

10900 blk between Drake and Central Park. Male, white, 25-30 years attempted to take a bike from a garage. Offender driving a small, older model car. Was scared away by an alert neighbor. Good job!!!

Success Story!!!
The information that we have is that the burglary on 10500 blk of Sawyer has been solved. The vehicle with the plate 'BRASSIE' was recovered in the 007th District and the driver was charged with a burglary after Area 2 Detectives got hold of him. We are removing that info from our ALERT list.
GREAT JOB!!!! Officers in the 007th District and and Area 2 detectives. Keep up the good fight.

Listed below is the list of offenses that have occurred in the neighborhood that are of some major concern and links to recent news stories that could possibly be the offenders. - April 27, 2010 - 3 male black offenders burglarizing and robbing individuals in the area. Possibly driving a white Chevy Malibu with a different hood color with Indiana temp tags. Vehicle was traded in for a Cadillac in Indiana. *From the comments, someone related that the Cadillac used is also white.* MTGP heard that detectives had names but MTGP has not heard of any arrests. If anyone knows of a resolution to this case, please let MTGP know. If anyone has names of wanted individuals, please let MTGP know. There was a recent arrest in Oak Lawn of 3 individuals. Are these the offenders?
- May 5, 2010 - Male white offender 5'7"-5'10", early to mid 30's with blond hair attempted to make entry into a residence by pretending to be on some official business in a dark blue Chevy pickup with Indiana plates or (from comments) a Porsche SUV with "BRASSIE" plate out of Wisconsin that is reported stolen. MTGP recently recieved comments to a chase of a pickup truck from the 16th district of a truck with Indiana plates. The news report of a chase on Chicago Breaking News website. Does anyone know if it is the same guy? Does anyone know if he was positively identified as the person that attempted to make entry on 105th and Sawyer?

MTGP does not know if this offender is the same as above, but it is always a possibility. Add a garage burglary on the 3900 blk of 111th St on April 30, 2010.

Just found in the comments. New burglary on the 11200 blk of Whipple. According to the comments it took the burglars all of 30 minutes to get what they wanted. Probably watching the pattern of the home owner and knew when the house was going to be vacated. No offender information. Let's pay attention to all of the vehicles that show up to our house and neighbor's house. Not all of people that show up in vans and trucks are there to do work on the house. Get to know your neighbor and let them know when you have unknown workers coming to your house and vice versa. Also, be careful what information you volunteer to strangers.

MTGP has one comment on these alerts, especially the second one. If the offender from the chase is the same guy that attempted to gain entry to a residence at 105 and Sawyer, then a very sad thing is happening. Offenders know where the police protection is, and know where the good citizens live. This guy would have targeted the two locations in the city where we, as the citizens of Mt. Greenwood know, Chicago residents are most vulnerable to attack. Lack of police service is allowing for these criminals to prey upon us. If the politicians don't help us, then we need to help ourselves.

It seems that more now than ever, the community needs to be aware. MTGP has learned that there have been 3 burglary incidents within the last 2 to 3 days in the neighborhood. A male white offender, 5'7" to 5'10" with blond hair, early to mid 30's went to the house and attempted to bash in the door. Victim approached the front door and offender attempted to gain access by first pretending to have some sort of credentials and then by attempting to break in the screen door. The victim was able to scare off the offender who fled in a Blue/Dk Blue Chevy pickup truck with Indiana regular plates.
PLEASE keep your eyes out for this vehicle or anyone that maybe matching this description. This subject is very bold and dangerous. Anyone that knows someone is home and still attempts to gain entry needs to be caught immediately. Do not let anyone inside of your home that you do not know or expect to be there.

MTGP did learn recently of an arrest made by Saint Xavier police and CPD regarding the robbery of a student on their campus by a male black offender. MTGP does not believe that that arrest has anything to do with the 3 male black offenders burglarizing and robbing individuals on the beat as the recent burglary came after the arrest at SXU. Either way, a huge KUDOS to those involved with the arrest. You represent us well and make us proud. Any victims or people who feel the need, send letters of thank you to the officer's respective commanders/chiefs etc. to give them the credit deserved.
MTGP has no new information regarding the 3 male black subjects that are preying on the citizens of 2211. Still looking for the subjects driving a Cadillac, unknown color, with Indiana temp tags.

***ALERT*** (reminder)
Remember, we have a pattern developing in the neighborhood.
3 Male blacks driving around in possibly a white Malibu with a alternate colored hood. They have attempted to gather information about whether an owner was home with a ding dong ditch and have entered an unlocked front door of a residence until they were scared off by an owner.
There have been 3 robberies or attempted robberies in the neighborhood as well. In one of these robberies, a white vehicle was described with multiple male black offenders inside. Be vigilant and report anything seen.

****ALERT****
Be on alert. In the last two months, a few robberies, armed and unarmed have occured in the neighborhood. Also, a burglary occured even more recently. Here is the offender information MTGP has received.
3 male black offenders late teens to 20's
driving a white 4-door, possible malibu, with some damage
potentially armed with a handgun
These offenders have approached individuals on foot and robbed people during the night and day.
One of these offenders burglarized a home in broad daylight but were scared off by the owner.
When you are driving through the neighborhood, or walking your dog and you see someone that is matching any of these descriptions, call 911. Document what you see and be prepared to be a witness to any crime. Gather plate information, descriptions of clothing, facial hair, hats etc. and pass that information along to the police as well as on this blog. It is necessary for all in the neighborhood to know what is going on, not just the police.
