Beverly Review encourages you not to talk to one another

This is getting stupid. Our blog posted some information provided by an anonymous source and next thing you know, our blog and another were being labeled as business killers.

Now, the Beverly Review is encouraging you to not email. Do not talk to one another about what might or might not be occurring in your neighborhood. Do not trust your friend to make a decision for themselves on whether or not the information that you are emailing to them is true or false. We guess the Beverly Review feels that people are sheep and they believe everything they read and cannot make decisions for themselves.

Look, if you get an email that you determine is true, or at least could be true and you want your friend to see it, email it to them. YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO DO SO. You also have a right to email a lie to your friend if you want. You might be labeled by your friend as a liar, but YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO DO SO. The Beverly Review believes that the only place you can get the correct information on the subject is from them.

From Beverly Review

If you have an e-mail address and neighbors with dirt to throw, there’s a good chance that fishy e-mails come your way. We see them all the time, and it’s our job to check them out. But when it’s information about local homeowners and businesses, it is important to not spread false information.

Or else the Beverly Review police will come and get you.

Love the fact that the Beverly Review does not put a byline on this article. They are very poor at sourcing their information.

The Beverly of today is not the Beverly Hills that it used to be. However, many Beverly residents still think their shit doesn't stink and that they are elite. Let them think that, all the while everyone else is laughing at them. They live in the Beverly neighborhood of Shitcago not in California. You would think the snowy and cold winters would alert them to this. If they don't want to talk to their neighbors or don't want to know what's going on in their neck of the woods more power to them. We live in Mt Greenwood. A blue collar community, of hard working families, who love the neighborhood that they grew up in and want to take care of it. We should be proud. Not many other neighborhoods can say the same. Let Beverly be the sewer that it has become.

Another local blog is carrying story that Gingers daughter got trees taken away but all the other neighbors still have downed trees in their lawns. What is going on?

How is the Beverly Review funded? If it's by local businesses...

Sounds like the Beverly Review is a little paranoid for some reason.

A few weeks ago I recieved an email from a good friend that listed some bogus crime spree that happened. As I said it was almost all false information, not one true fact in it. I even checked with
So I kept seeing a reference to MTGP listed in the body of the email. I checked with the 22nd and they clarified the thruth.
Then I went searching on Google for the same string of words and I found the body of the email was copied from this site.

Its not good to allow something to be posted if you are confirming the accuratcy of the information.

Here is more of it:

There was already a shooting last year at 117th and Kedzie in one of those Merrionette Park apartments. Those apartments offer nothing but trouble. MTGP is sure that the Merrionette Park police are tired of dealing with them as well. Maybe the owners of those apartment buildings, that potentially rent to Section 8, could get some visits from the Merrionette Park building inspectors unless they lower the number of assholes that put in those apartmets. CPD should be showing a strong presence in this area to send the message that their antics are not appreciated or wanted.

3 dudes arrested in evergreen park for robbing 11 and 13 year old kids in oak lawn

please call 911 everytime you see suspicious activity in mount greenwood , beverly area

lets keep our beat car where it belongs the robberies occured in early afternoon

Two self-admitted gang members and another teen have been charged with robbing two young boys in Oak Lawn Saturday afternoon.

Mark Hayes, of 9609 S. Keeler Ave. in Oak Lawn; and Chicagoans Kendrae D. Williams, of 6950 S. Fairfield Ave., and Norris Davison, of 6240 S. Bishop St., have been charged with one count each of felony robbery, according to an Oak Lawn police release. All three are 17.

On Saturday, a 13-year-old boy was walking in the 9700 block of Kolmar Avenue when Davison allegedly jumped out of a 1996 Ford Taurus and snatched an iTouch music player from him and drove away, the release said.

A short time later, the same vehicle with the same three offenders pulled up to an 11-year-old boy at 98th and Kostner, where Hayes allegedly jumped out and snatched a cell phone from the boy, the release said.

The first victim's parents saw the robbery and followed the Taurus until they lost sight of it at 95th and Pulaski, the release said.

Moments later, Evergreen Park police stopped the Taurus at 95th and Homan. The victims were brought to the scene and both identified the three teens. The stolen items were recovered in the Taurus, police said.

Hayes and Williams are admitted gang members, the release said.

The three were scheduled for a court hearing Monday morning in Bridgeview, although court information was not immediately available.

MTGP has learned of Section 8 addresses in Mount Greenwood.

4050-4064 West 115th St.
10819 S. Whipple
We all know that those apartment buildings by Marist are just an eyesore for the community and a pain in the ass for the beat car. The element that is attracted there puts potential offenders too close to a thriving community. Too bad there was not someway that Marist could buy those buildings. Hell, MTGP believes St. Xavier has eminent domain, let them claim the buildings for dorms and shuttle bus students to the campus. Talk about solving a huge problem on the beat.

MTGP has also learned of parolees living in those buildings. 3 of them. For those that do not know, a parolee is still in prison, but because of overcrowding or Gov. Quinn kicking them out, the offenders are allowed to live life outside of the walls of a prison, under certain rules. Rules that are never followed or enforced, but they have rules!!!

MTGP has also learned of another offender paroled to the 11100 blk of Kedzie. Really? That is just wonderful, lets have parolees living right in the heart of Mt. Greenwood. Let's hope that new 'green' building being built on the 11100 blk of Kedzie does not end up housing any other parolees or Section 8 types. MTGP is very suspect of that building. If anyone has information about what is being built there and why, please infor MTGP so that the staff can sleep at night.

11500 S kedzie at the car wash just for info this is not a good place to go, black p-stones have taken over the area and sell at the car wash and use it as a meeting place to kids from Mt Greenwood. They pretend to be drying and vacuuming their cars. I got my car washed went to Dominick's and passed the car wash on the way home 1 hour later and the same guys was still drying their car. My son was there last Friday and he said he was asked if he wanted some "green or X". He no longer is allowed to go there. 2 guns recovered there the other night no arrests. Gang banger must have left them out of his car when he was cleaning it. 11700 kedzie is all section 8.

Black P Stone gangbangers have taken a foothold at 115/Kedzie at the Carwash. They are targeting whites! Threatening passerbys and customers. Things are getting ridiculous now. Gosh, we can't even wash our cars without being hassled by thugs.
19th Ward has no comments. Big surprise.
There are a lot of problems with the 115th and Kedzie corner. We have a Cash America, a car wash, and 2 gas stations. Throw into the mix some low income housing and BOOM, a sight out of Englewood and various other similar parts of the city.

The biggest problem with this area are those apartment buildings located in Merrionette Park. The ilk start their day by roaming the gas stations constantly for numerous 25cent to dollar items and then make their way to the Cash America in an attempt to sell various stolen items that have received. Throw in the car wash as a potential gathering point and we have problems.

Or do you just NOT Verify any of it.

If some fool send you some false crime that happened you let it get up on the blog?

To all of our neighbors in Mount Greenwood, I don't know how the folks in your neighborhood feel about each other, but on our block, in our parishes, schools, parks and up and down the street, the whole aspect of our shit stinking..or not stinking never surfaces. When we bought our house, it was because we liked the house. If there were a home that appealed to us in Mount Greenwood, we would have bought there.

The aspect of snobbery that you ascribe to the Beverly neighborhoods betrays some feeling of inferiority that you carry with you like luggage, Its not something I've ever given any thought to.

Beverly is every bit as much populated by hard working people just like Mt. Greenwood and Morgan Park.

I would tell you that our neighbors look out for us, help us shovel our walks in the winter, and in the instances of last weeks storms and power outages, run extension cords across streets to power our refrigerators to prevent spoilage. And I'm confident the people south and west of us do the same. So get over it, life goes on, you only go around once in life, and I dont believe anything productive comes from the line of thinking mentioned in this post.

This whole Mount Greenwood blue collar stuff you espouse is your hangup, not ours. Like you, and everyone else in the area, we worry about our kids, keeping our streets safe and our communities strong.

I went and checked out the article you mentioned. What I got out of it was that if you read something that is alarming about your neighborhood, the responsible thing to do is check the accuracy of the report before sending it on. I dont have a problem with that. I didnt read anything in the article that says you shouldn't talk to one another. The headline over this post makes you out to sound like an asshole.

Dear intellectual genius,

I just read your comment...only because if there is something being posted that is untrue, I would be upset as well and expect it to be corrected...most of what you referenced were OPINIONS of readers of this blog...do you not understand the difference?? Also, do you have some sort of problem with people watching their neighborhood for suspicious activity? I sure as shit don't!!

As far as anything purported to be facts, which ones aren't true? There wasn't a shooting at 117th and Kedzie? So all the news channels that reported it were ALL lying?? 11700 Kedzie isn't section 8? If it's not, tell us readers how we can verify that. I would list all the other crimes/facts that were listed, but hopefully you get the point. Everything else was either an observation OR AN OPINION!!!! YOU should be more specific and provide verification (so any incorrect info could be corrected??? DUHHHHHH) if you are going to accuse someone of either lying or lecture them on what they have the first amendment right to say on a blog site, just as your comment for whatever reason was published because someone felt your first amendments rights were worth addressing.

Oh and I almost forgot...

Dear Beverly Review,
FUCK YOU!

hey beverly review.. go f' yourself. you and ginger are loosing control of beverly and mount greenwood. The Beast from the ghetto is here. they like what they see and are starting to learn what they can do out here. pretty soon mount greenwood is going to turn into st. tommy moore or st denis. dont fool yourselves, christ the king and barnabas and beverly is already slipping away.. crimes that didnt happen 10 years ago in beverly are way to common now... "people" that didnt live in beverly are now living on every single block and bringing his cousin pookie from the east side with him for the family bbq... we need a damn wall built.

Anonymous said...

To 8:57 pm. You obviously didn't check your facts as you say you did. The car wash at 115 & Kedzie was the only comments that were not true. All the other crimes did happen. Yes all of them. There were two guns found seperately on 115 th street also but they were not at the car wash. As addressed earlier by the blog administrator everyone is free to post on this blog, even you, and the comments do not reflect that of the blog administrator. So check your facts and then check them again. Because if you are going to be a critic then don't be an ill informed, opinionated, foolish one.

If he has a bushy red tail that's Frankie the Fucking Fox. Last seen in Oak Lawn. He seems harmless. Walks up and down the street, sits on your back porch, watches you mow the lawn.

Have fun.

Unless some law has changed, a convicted felon is not supposed to be living in Section 8. I read an article in the Chicago Law Bulletin of a convicted felon who was released from prising living in his mom's section 8 housing and had to be removed, or she would lose her housing. In this article also stated that he would just have to rob because of this law, etc. Anyway, if these are parolees and the housing is Section 8, we need to call Rugai's office and anyone else you can.

Maybe you'd be better off finding out who's collecting all those Section 8 checks in Mt. Greenwood than bum rapping other neighborhoods. Those slum lords are your neighbors, not ours.

Ahh. More Beverly bashing. I grew up in Beverly and couldn't understand why my parents moved us to Mt Greenwood when I was a teen. I always wanted to move back to sweet home Beverly. That is until I was old enough and able to afford a house. Once I started looking I quickly realized why my parents moved us out of there. You couldn't pay me to live there. Needless to say my family and I are residing in quiet, safe, Mt Greenwood.

Once had a large black man ask me for change at the Kedzie Carwash on 115th. He could sense I was afraid. I was scared to say no. I gave him my quarters and drove off without getting my car washed. Why? I didn't feel safe. The stories about dangerous people lurking over there are true. Hopefully, now others will take notice and call 9-1-1. Wish I had. I'm still shook up about the incident. I have not gone back since. I prefer to go to Fuller's on Cicero. Much friendly Carwash personnel and I don't have to worry about having someone begging for quarters!
Print that story if you want!

Boycotting the Carwash isn't the answer. Calling the police when you see suspicious activity or people is. Stand up for the Carwash. The owners are police and care about your safety. They are doing their best to keep you safe. It was an eye opener for certain to read about the Mt. Hope cemetery thugs doing business at the Carwah, but at least now the Carwash is being watched over. Don't Boycott your community Carwash! Fight for it!

I agree with 007 cop, don't boycott, go into the office and report it, call 911 and report it, alert your neighbors/family/friends. Let people know what is happening! We shouldn't be afraid to use services in our own neighborhood! Hopefully the car wash is paying closer attention and will ensure that it remains a safe place. Remember, the owner loses if we abandon his business so I am sure he would prefer to keep it safe for the neighborhood!

For one, I don't think that's fair to boycott a business who is trying to respond to the needs of the community. It's not Mark Mayer's fault that the corner is configured to attract garbage. People need to simply report what they see and experience. Force a response from 22.

Quite honestly, my mother loves that Dollar Store (don't ask me why) but since she's in her 70's I take her there. On the one day I opted to stay in my car some shithead comes out of nowhere asking her for a "solid quarter". I was out of the car and up his ass before she could even answer him. I shagged him away, no harm, no foul, and next time (now that I am aware of the problem there) I will call the police. But I don't intend to make her give up something she enjoys because of some shithead. I have lived in a changing neighborhood twice and moved twice. I'm not going to do it again.

Boycotting the Carwash at 115/Kedzie is the coward's way out. It sends the message to the gangs that we don't have the strength to defend our neighborhood. Then it's over...they will move into the neighborhood in droves and take everything that is not nailed down. I have seen a society like this...overseas...it's sad.
Protect what is your's and fight for the nice things in the community. Don't be a coward!

They are running a very respectful business and you busybodies should call the police if you see something suspicious instead of sitting at your computer, and spreading nonsense.
