Crime taking a break?

Is there anything that has been happening in the neighborhood that we should all be aware of? We feel that we have been writing a lot about the political aspects of crime and not the true crime. That is a good thing. We hope that the criminal element has taken a break for a little while. Stay alert though!

Crime is not taking a break. Minor offenses continue to go unpunished due to lack of police presence. A drive through the neighborhood will yeild numerous crazy or aggressive drivers, loud booming bass, vehicles driving through with the aroma of cannabis wafting through the air, some fool walking down the street instead of the sidewalk so he can look into cars or pull on door handles, people going door to door but only to the houses without cars in front or the homes with papers piled up, and most of these people are not from the neighborhood (white or black). The police are busy and by the time they get dispatched the offenders are a ways away and a code is all that is generated. I"m not saying this is major crime but if allowed to continue then it will only get worse.

A guy dressed in an alarm companys uniform with van and all, knocked on my neighbors door telling him he had to check the key pad and change the code. Whats wrong with this? my neighbor doesn't have an alarm system. Things that make you go HHHHMMMMHHH !!!!!

well 3 more Irish women were robbed in bucktown on the N. Side following Natasha McShane's high profile robbery which placed her into a coma. If you have a Noreen, Colleen, or Maureen, better tell em to be careful coming home from Brewbakers at 4am.

I would like to know if you are suppose to get a permit to have a birthday party in Mt.Greenwood Park - the playground area. Can you have tents and grills and drink beer? And why did the Mt. Greenwood residents have to raise money for their park? And Kennedy and the other parks in the area were just redone done by the city. Just Wondering!

Head on over to bourbon street on a Thursday or Saturday around closing. Plenty of drunks acting stupid and smashing into cars as they head down 115th st.

Found this tongue in cheek comment posted on a police blog

OT:

Thanks 2211 for handling the 3 susp M/1s sitting in the car at 109 and central Park at Approx 1815 on Saturday. Your code about them having "Civil Rights" and they can be on the public way was a nice way for you to blow it off without doing anything. If they were sitting in a car that means you can question the driver, ask for his D/L, Insurance and so on. You can also order the other occupants out of the vehicle. If you are unsure about how to handle a job try and ask one of your co-workers with time on the job. I'm not the one who called but a lot of us in the neighborhood listen to our scanners now and then.

Thanks again for a job well done!

called the police 4 times last night because of a fight that broke out at 106 and springfield. teens drunk arguing and physical fighting for about 45 minutes. started off with only three kids, then more came and argued for about 20 min, all clearly drunk...then more physical fighting then more arguing so on and so forth. this was at 2am. called in 4 times and turned on the radio. dispatcher read it out but couldnt assign it...finally she tried to give it to 2221r who said...huuhhhhhhhhh squaaadddd, we's still on dat domestic on our beat. needless to say when more people came and a large group now in the street fighting at about 220 am I called again and now updated them... well finally 235 the group left with job still not assigned... whatever. 45 minutes of constant screaming, so much for calling 911.

they have civil rights??? yes, you are correct they do but you also have the backing of the supreme court to check out a suspicious auto. The supreme court says that if you are called to the area you can not only investigate but if anything makes you feel at a disadvantage or feel unsafe(i.e. Three in the car and only two officers, sweating profusly, area of recent burglaries, no identification, furtive movement, any of these along with other circumstances) means you can pull everyone out of the car and you may put all of them into handcuffs and sit them on the curb.... even if the driver has a valid license and insurance you may do this...also, before allowing anyone back into that vehicle you have the full backing of the law and supreme court of searching the entire passenger compartment or anything immediatly accessible to the occupants(even locked containers and locked glove boxes) to ensure that upon returning to the vehicle the occupants cant get a dangerous weapon... I really think that many more people on this job need to know this. I cant stand when passing by peoples traffic stops with 4 bad guys on the hood with no body in handcuffs... THE SUPREME COURT SAYS WE CAN!!!!! its for our safety. learn the law and use it to your advantage. arizona v. gant has nothing to do with still conducting an investagatory stop and performing a protective safety search of the inside of a passenger compartment. do it every stop if you need to.. put them in handcuffs and perform a pat down on everyone.. we are allowed. way too many people think that if they have a d/l and insurance you cant get them out of the car, pat them down, handcuff them or a protective search of the car. articulate why you are doing it. ie, a known gang member in and high crime area. upon approach he made several glances down towards the floorboard and movements with his hands, was evasive in answering questions etc etc etc... come one boys and girls... stories like this drive me nuts!! USE THE LAW!!!!!!

Alcohol is not permitted at the park. There are signs around the park saying this. Did you go into the field house? Not that they will do anything but let them know, call Rugai and let her know. Call the police repeatedly. IF we just bury our heads in the sand, this will be an everyday occurrence. Complain, complain, complain. Eventually someone will get tired of hearing all of Mt Greenwood bitching. Elections are coming, make this problem known. How about that Schiable woman? She looks for things to address.

drunken block parties and underaged drinkers and drunk punks are always around Mt. Greenwood every weekend all summer, block parties are out of control with late night drunken-ness, noise, punks fighting and looking for trouble, while decent taxpaying people are home trying to get their young kids to bed at a reasonable time, while block party music blares and underaged drunk punks roam the neighborhood being unchecked by police, who are probably somewhere else other than the 2211 beat. Time for some change people, we've had enough out here with the crap streets, filthy park, late night alcohol-related problems, etc. Every summer we are forced to tolerate this, on top of rising crimes and more and more suspicious persons roaming around our neighborhood. Please call the police on all suspicious activity and persons, and any crimes, or unsafe neighborhood coditions, and demand that the polie manpower we pay for with our taxes stays here in Mt. Greenwood and is not 15 miles away on a regular basis.

Hey 2211 I'm the off duty p.o. that called Saturday on the light green blazer with 3 male blacks aprox 22 years old that were sitting at 10902 s. Central park. Cease fire sticker on left rear bumper. If you wanna go over to the east end of 22 and play police maybe you should bid to 005 or 003 if you enjoy the ghetto so much. Learn the law and maybe you wouldn't be affraid to check out some pieces of shit that were up to no good. Oh and the plates came back to 78th and damen. Good job you lazy fucks. I will post plate # when I get home.

Im a long time resident of Mt. Greenwood and i look at 2211 status all the time and truely i dont expect them to do shit because they dont have the backing of our community. we want them to do a job that someone else will bash them about the next minute on our blog. Hell i wouldnt even do it. I looked into that job about the suspicious males on central park it wasnt 2211 who came on the radio and coded it with the civil rights bullshit it was 2205. 2211 was on a domestic that occured on 2211's beat.

619pm i agree... way too many young guys on this job who dont handcuff people. If he has a dl and insurance get him out and put him in handcuffs. Use your observations and knowledge about the area your in to explain why you are doing so. A traffic stop is a legal detention. Just because your putting handcuffs on somebody during a traffic stop does not mean your under arrest. put handcuffs on your detainees while conducting your investigation. The supreme court says you can so do it!! if they beef it is baseless and advise them to read up on the law.

you have to many old guys who dont do shit. go handcuff yourself.
