At the 7-11 at 115th & Kedzie there are African-American men harassing women as they walk to and from the gas station. My wife ran to 7-11 to pick up something for cookies she's baking at 11:05pm.(edited by MTGP, for a last minute need for the next day) One shouted something about coming home with him. Another shouted "Hey Bitch! Get back here!" As my wife ignored him, he proceeded to chase her. As usual we called the police and watched for them to patrol, but after 10 minutes we stopped watching. Merrionette Park police are pathetic. I figured Mt. Greenwood folks should know about this as well. Too bad it's illegal for her to carry gun. Next time she will bring her pepper spray, which is sad because we used to feel safe here...
Again, we have commented on that corner before. We have seen that type of behavior as well. Even though we have been told that the car wash is clear and free of gang activity does not mean that it is still not at that corner. That corner seems to be becoming a gathering spot for some seedy individuals as they are traveling through. Or, those people are living in the apartments nearby in Merrionette Park. Kedzie goes right through Robbins and 115th St appears to be a great route out of Roseland and to all the burial locations for their gang banger friends. Police response may not be good, but calling is the only thing we have right now. We cannot comment on Merrionette Park, but keep calling if you are in Chicago.
Every call forces a beat car to come to the neighborhood.

Where was the beat car at 11:05 pm? Shift change?Roll call? East? Clearly not near 115th and Kedzie. When did it clear that call for help?
When I was working Property Crimes in Area 2 I had reason to go to the pawn shop at 115th/Kedzie. I asked for a printout of the individuals who pawned items. A great number were dirtbags and burglars from over east. Others were from the south suburbs. A great service to the community would be to shut that place down. The east side burglars do not need to be in "candyland" seeing homes without bars everywhere.
Maybe residents need to take matters into their own hands? Maybe there should be a telephone tree of men available that would like to come and kick someone's big mouth ass. Maybe that will solve the problem.
For Mount Greenwood having a reputation for being racist (as the media has portrayed it) that's some pretty confident behavior coming from the animals.
Maybe some neighborhood residents would like to set up camp in this area and watch from their cars and videotape all this bullshit. Maybe they will put that on the news

Question of the day... Im minding my own buisness in my personal car and am around 67th and kedzie.. well.. I see a squad car lights and sirens blazing down kedzie heading n/b towards 63rd and kedzie.. I pull to the right and who is it??? 2211! so, someone is asked to check on it about 30 seconds later and guess what... 2211 was for some reason on a disturbance call at 72 and kedzie with no details of job.. ok, so why are they then flying n/b on kedzie at 63rd at 6pm today??? what the hell is going on??

I was born and raised in Mt. Greenwood, attended grammar and high school in Mt. Greenwood and have lived every day of my life in Mt. Greenwood and have NEVER heard more whiny bitches than on this blog. But I guess thats what the once proud C.P.D. has become! I'd love to have more police out here, but the city doesn't give a shit about our end of the 19th ward. I've been on the job 25+ yrs and am embarrassed by all the crybabies on this blog!
I saw the footpursuit ticket, I haven't looked If there were any arrests made. I'm not gonna nit pick but that's a big thing. If My family needs the police and you're over dicking around with those assholes. I would expect you would be annoyed if it were the other way around. There is very rarely an opening in 022 and when there is it's filled by old timers, and management is almost never used to bring in experienced workers, just phone calls so I'm stuck.
They know Mt. Greenwood is called "Candyland", so now they are testing the waters to see if it's "Poontangland" as well. If you hard chargers are so worried, then you go pick up the grocery items and leave the women at home where they are safe. And yes...I do the shopping for my wife, so she won't experience some savage assaulting her.

I can't show them to you but I happen to work at the Bridgeview courthouse. These offenders all come through areas that I work in.
I see the arrest reports. I know what they were arrested for and let me assure you they are all scummy (some white, some black) but all scum, useless, unemployed and living in those apartments courtesy of you and I. Grown men pummeling their mothers, wives, girlfriends. Mental illness. And the vast majority of them have extensive substance-related criminal backgrounds. Most are still active in mfg/delivery.
I may be wrong, but your post sounded as though you didn't believe that there are problems there or that you get the impression people in that area are being maligned on this blog.
Personally, I was happy to see this blog come into being. While I have no idea who the blog owner is, I appreciate his/her efforts to have a place to post criminal activity which could result in more community activism and awareness. Further, he/she appears to be making an effort to present a fair viewpoint. He gets information and posts it.
As I read this thread I'm kind of surprised at the attitudes of some posters putting down other posters who are being vocal about the fact that they deserve service in their area and should not take no for an answer.
As for these two posters:

1. Why should honest, hard-working taxpayers have to alter in any way, shape of form, their behavior in their own neighborhood?
2. I too have strong roots in this area and I think that it would be much better to work together than criticize each other. There's a lot of cops living here and they have access to know who's being pulled into other areas. It's not their fault where they are told to respond, but I don't think there's any reason why residents cannot question why a shit neighborhood with no tax base or respect for the police should take precedence over us.
Good luck with the blog. I think it's a good idea if it can stay true to it's purpose which would be to keep Mount Greenwood safe and residents informed. God knows, Daley and Weis manipulate all the numbers.
