Small Milestone

Sometime last night, our blog of 2 months has hit the 10,000 mark. Yay. Sorry, nothing for the 10,000th customer. Our goal of this blog was to post the trouble that exists in the neighborhood and to give our fellow residents a place that they can also post their crime observations. We appear to have reached some residents of Mt. Greenwood and those residents have used the comments section just how we had hoped.

People are posting suspicious people, plates, crimes, and their personal observations of the neighborhood. People are getting the information and they are talking to one another via the comments or in emails. This is a really good thing. If you keep all of your observations to yourself, then the only person that would know about them is you. We need to talk and we need to constantly be on guard for whatever lurks in our neighborhood.

This neighborhood is truly a great neighborhood. We sometimes talk about bad things that happen in the neighborhood, but in general, this is a great neighborhood. We want to keep it a great neighbohood. That is our motivation and that is what has driven myself (the writer) and my fellow staff to constantly keep up with the blog.

This blog will only work if as many residents of Mt. Greenwood as possible read and interact with the blog. We have a small percentage reading now, we are always looking for more. Continue to spread the word about the blog to your neighbors, your friends and your colleagues in the neigborhood. And keep posting what you are seeing out there, no matter how trivial you believe it may be, we would love to hear it.

Don't forget, if those hairs on the back of your neck rise up at what you see, please call 911. You might be saving yourself or your neighbor from a lot of heartache.

If you read the SCUM-times from todays edition 24 Jun 10, Mary Mitchell writes an article claiming our esteemed Ald Rugai is attempting to harass the black owned business on Western/111th St (the mini golf course). While i dont agree that its a "racial" issue of simply wanting a "black owned" business out of the ward, i dont think people should be so quick to pat Rugain on the back in the comments section for "standing up for the neighborhood" or "keeping gangbangers out of the neighborhood." Thats what she was SUPPOSED to be doing all along. Tax paying citizens in this neighborhood are getting HOSED as far as public services go (ie police, pot hole patching, tree cutting after tornadoes etc). Dont let this lone so called "stance" against "undesireables" fool you into thinking she cares about any of us living here. More smoke and mirrors.

This blog is a joke!
People post half truths, lies, making things up.
Nothing but a glorified rumor mill.

Mr Police Men that owns this blog is a moron for starting it. It will only come bite him in the ass as all of the other blogs over the years in the 19th have done to the owner of each. I know you are trying to get crime stats out to the ward, well then put real crime stats up. This whining and complaining needs to be controlled.
Make people post their real login from Google or one of the others. That will make things better. It has for other blogs. This anonymous
stuff is not good for any of us.

Reading this blog is kind of like when you get that email that says that Microsoft, and Yahoo combined will pay you if you forward this email on to your friends. Half of the people will forward it on and wait for the money.

Since people believe more of what they read, they fiqure it is true what they are reading.
So if something is posted here, does it mean it is true? Was it checked before being allowed to be poste? Not!
At some point someone will get slandered on here, if it is allowed, and guess what the courts have had many cases like that, you see them in the REAL papers all the time. Usually someone has to pay big bucks at the end.
I think we all understand the First Admendment of Free Speech, which is great, but allowing slander to be posted makes the person running the blog just as guilty as the person that wrote it.

Just like I am posting just some advice for anyone that cares to read this as Not Darts Addic, since I do not blast people and do not need to ID myself , just as Darts Addic did not Id himself ether as I am only making a statement.
Good Luck with the format of this blog copper as this type of format can only get you and certain posters in trouble if you are allowing the blasting of people or untruths. I would think of cleaning it up and do a little control here as it will only help you in the long run and keep you out of court too.

(OFF TOPIC) Coming home from work tonite at 0030hrs, I observed at 112th and Drake a large Ryder truck with about 10-12 getto breeders moving in. Who the HELL is renting their house to section 8.

Now that we know, we can keep a friendly concerned and watchful eye on our new "neighbors", step out of line and you'll be getting a visit from the police.

Threats are illegal also, pal. As this format is not much different than SCC, I don't see why there should be a problem with anyone posting here.

From someone who spent a lot of time in Mt. Greenwood as a kid, and who still lives in the area, I think this blog is a welcome addition to cyberspace.
