Car Wash

This is Mark Mayer. My family owns the car wash at 11500 S. Kedzie. I am a chicago police officer. My self, my family members and numerous police officers that use the car wash everyday have not seen this type of activity. We would not stand for it. If someone was approached and offered narcotics. Why weren't the police notified? If someone saw suspicious activity there. Why werent the police notified? If you have information(type of car or suspect description). Call me. My number is 773-837-5294. I talked to numerous police officers that said that none of that activity goes on there. I think alot of people that talk on blogs don't have any real information or facts and dont know what they are talking about. My family and myself personally know customers that are chicago police and fireman who come in with 22inch rims.

Thank you Mark for taking an active role in the community. Our staff patronizes your car wash and will continue to do so. The stereotype of rims on a vehicle should not be the decisive factor in determining a criminal element has been loitering in a business. There have been comments regarding 115th and Kedzie and the car wash. It is good to know that there is a business out there that we can count on that will watch for any trouble.

As a community, if you see something suspicious at the car wash, the gas station, your neighborhood, it is your duty to call 911. Let the police check it out. Make our neighborhood safer.

And as we have encouraged before, patronize Mt. Greenwood businesses. Especially the ones that seem to have the best interests of our neighborhood at hand. The strength of our local neighborhood economy can only strengthen our neighborhood. Jobs, charity and the political power of a neighborhood gained when money is involved. That is the only thing politicians respond to.

2 police officers' homes were burglarized in the 8th district. Not sure what beat. Coincidence or targets? I posted about it on my blog.

Its scary that our neighborhood is not the safe little bubble it used to be. We as residents need to come together and take a stand for our community. To not move out and let it turn into another chicago wasteland.
What is really disturbing is the nickname Mt Greenwood has been given "candyland". We are targets and need to flush out the crime

I use the carwash all the time and I have never seen anything going on there except for cars getting cleaned. Also, Mark can you get machines that take credit cards?

Mark,

Thanks for all your input and feedback. We will continue to lookout for your business and let you know if anything seems out of place.

Secondcitycop.blogspot ran a story by the local CBS news where 2 police officers had their homes burglarized on the "SW SIDE" where the offenders got away with guns, ammo and CPD uniforms. Does anyone know where this occurred? The story is below:

I also have never seen any gang activity at the car wash. Even for as stupid as these bangers are I dont think they will be setting up shop there.

mark im a p.o. and i use your car wash all the time. I use it because it is a great place to go. I have never seen any specific gang/drug activity up there but I have seen sometime when Im washing my car in the stall some shady lookin guys just walking back and forth... one time dude walked back and fourth a few times then comes in my stall and asks for a few bucks to get his car washed...said I didnt have anything to give him and to beat it pretty much... 5 min later now he comes back in asking for directions... tell him to get the f' out of there... next as im leavin hes standing across the street with a second guy almost as if they were watching who was coming in... did I report it?? no, I should have especially being a police officer. as for that situation ive never felt unsafe at the car wash... I hate that "outsiders" are always there being loud in the parking lot bumping the music while drying and vaccuming but dude will be dude. Have you ever thought about hiring an off duty there as security?? just sayin. I have met you before on the street while working through a friend and I know that you guys run a great buisness. I will always go there and hope there are no problems as what people are claiming... but if these problems do exist and I am there you have my word that the police will be called and action is taken about the bad guys.

Mark,
See if you can get the contract for the squads, since we have to drive to another district for a wash. That should keep the rats away.

Ahhhh...forget it, you'll never get paid by the city, just like the guy on Western.

By the way, my wife, kids, dad use your facility, and other than the occasional shit banging rap music sometimes played, they have had no problems up there.

Good Luck.

Mark,
The only times I have ever seen what could be perceived as gang banging thugs is when there is a funeral at Mt. Hope. They come in with their flashy cars and try to make everyone notice they are there. They have zero respect for those of us living across from the cemetery.
One could easily assume that they are trying to stake a claim at your carwash. However, it's only on days that they have a gang banger's funeral.
Can't miss em, because they'll have the orange funeral sticker on their cars. LOL!

I try to keep up on what’s going on in our community and understand the importance of neighborhood support and vigilance to keep Mt. Greenwood a nice place to live and raise a family. It appears that there has been an increasing number of thefts and burglaries, among other crimes being committed in Mt. Greenwood by outsiders recently, but I was surprised to read an email about some illegal activity going on at the Quick Suds Carwash at 115th & Kedzie. This alleges that some Section 8, P-Stone Nation gangbangers from nearby Merrionette Park, had set up shop in a few of the manual bays at the carwash, and were attempting to sell dope to some of the locals kids that go to the carwash. It also mentioned that 2 handguns were found in one of the bays.

Jeff Mayer is one of the owners of this family run business, and also a Captain on the Chicago Fire Department. I have known Jeff for about 25 years and found it hard to believe that he or his CPD brother, Mark, would ever turn a blind eye to anything like this in our/their neighborhood, not to mention allowing this kind of thing to go on unimpeded at their family’s place of business. Rather than depending on second hand information, I decided to call Jeff directly and ask him what was going on, because I wanted to know the truth, and hear it straight from the horse’s mouth!

He was aware of the emails going around, but said he has a man working there most of the time and was not aware of anything illegal going on there whatsoever. He said he doesn’t know where, how or why this rumor got started, but encourages anyone with any tangible evidence or information to please come forward with it, and/or call the police immediately if they witness anything like this going on there at any time of the day or night. He said the reports of guns being found in one of the bays there are false too.

So, let’s keep our eyes open, watch out for our neighbors, support our local businesses and call the police at any hint of suspicious activity. Many of the Police Officers in 022 are also residents here, and are more than glad to come out and investigate any legitimate complaints of criminal activity. If we stick together as a community, we can prevent this neighborhood from falling prey to the criminal element and becoming another lawless environment like the majority of this once great city already has.

Nevr heard about any handguns being found in the bays of the Carwash, but the gang that is hanging there is NOT Black P Stone. They are GD's...that are seen there. Trouble is: they only wash their cars once in awhile. If we observe 22 in rims...we jot down their plate.
Don't worry we're on it!
