Our lack of posts

We are sorry. We are still committed and are still writing. We haven't had many ideas recently for local stories. Our thoughts have been lingering towards a citywide scale and we are not posting citywide stuff here. That is reserved for SCC. We are going to try and turn the ship back towards Mt. Greenwood as there are plenty of things to write about here, we just need to clear up our minds a bit. The evil is flexing its muscle and if you read SCC's post Bad News All Morning, you can see it for yourself.

Luckily, we have not had one of those incidents happen here in Mt. Greenwood....yet.

For now, consider this our first open post. Give us a kick in our ass and force us to redirect our attention to Mt. Greenwood. Post ideas, information on crime in our area, etc.

I have run into that problem as well. Although I do post many random posts not about Garfield Ridge. We want to keep it focused on Garfield Ridge but if there is nothing "new" going on or "interesting" then what is there to post about. I think though that as our readership grows, our blog will be better. Never will anyone reach SCC status but it is interesting to read his posts from the beginning when he was looking to "increase" their readership-who knew right??? You have the start of a great blog here and I will continue to read it.

What do we do to keep the neighborhood going? As section 8 moves in everyone bitches, but there is nothing we can do. I paid good money for a house, I work my ass off day in and day out. I want a nice neighborhood, where do we go from here.

How about a thread on property taxes: ours vs. other city neighborhoods.

Any word yet as to what the "green" building is going to be? Is the alderman's office trying to ignore questions regarding it?

All though this doesn't have to do with street crime, this has to do with making people accountable for their lack of interest in keeping up with their vacant properties, Mt,Greenwood is really starting to look like shit. Why aren't the property owners made to take care of their property whether it be commercial or home? My girlfriend lives next to a vacaant home that is filled with mold and making her family sick and noone will help her.

Why isn't anyone doing anything about the tracks at 111th and Sacramento? We are all swerving now to the outer lanes because the crossing is so rough? If the railroad doesn't care to fix them, than maybe the city should.

Keep an eye out for 2 black males in a yellow truck passing out phone books. They were spotted on Trumbull (between 111th and 112th Pl) dropping off 1 Male Black and 2 others stayed in the truck. One walked down the street stopping at gang ways pressing a small remote with a red light. For those of you that don't know, Garage doors only have so many codes, they possibly may be trying to find the one that works. Just be aware of whats going on around your house.

The alderman's ward ends at California. Those tracks are actually in Mt. Greenwood. Get your neighbors together and buy some gravel from Menard's.

That is a real good comment about the train tracks, actually both sets are terrible when heading east. They have been like that for years too. Also, what is everyones interest in that lepapas that is coming soon to 111th and pulaski, is that joint going to be populated by residents or mostly the bussed hood kids?

Check out the anti police attitude at www.19thwardchicago.blogspot.com. Are they for real?

The tracks at Sacramento are Mt. Greenwood. Get used to it. You are in Mt. Greenwood.

Case in point? The tracks at 111 and Rockwell are in much better shape but Ginger had signs posted there warning everyone of the rough crossing. Do you think we could get those signs posted at Sacramento? No way. She knows we will vote the way we are told.

What do you know about the new Public Aid Office coming to 111th & Kedzie?

The tracks are the railroads responsibility. Why doesn't the city and our alderwoman hold them accountable and make them fix the tracks? If the railroad doesn't care to fix the tracks then maybe the city should rip the tracks out. See how fast the railroad takes care of their responsibilities after the threat of that!

What is "lepapas"?

To 11:14 p.m.:

if you mean that building on the west side of Kedzie in the 11100 block it is an addition to that business to the north of it. It is a home nursing company I think.

It was shut down for a bit when it did not have the necessary permits.

Le Papas, sorry for it being one word before, is the new beef place going into 111th and pulaski, on the northeast side of the street, the place that was painted bears colors in the winter, sox and cubs in the summer, a couple years ago they were selling the sports merchandise. From what I understand it used to be a hot dog place in the past

Thanks for the info Drake! We saw the place getting painted and ready and were wondering what was next to come!

I got sick to my stomach when I heard mention of a Public Aid office so I actually emailed Rugai's office about a Public Aid office going in where old Walgreens is and they responded right away and said it will be the parking lot once new one is complete and that there are no plans for PA Office.
