Kudos 2211

They did it again. 11400 blk S. Spaulding. Weed arrest. More court time. More props for 2211 afternoons fighting the good fight. Minor offense, yes. Major effort, yes as well. Good work, we appreciate it.

Hi, mt. Greenwood resident here. I am highly appreciating the site and have been working on getting the word out to neighbors. Alot of people like it though, so keep up the good work. Something that has bothered me is the fact that the bar by st. christina is vacant, along with the old location of fat tommys. I dont think that is good for the area and I hope somebody steps up and invests in OUR town in the big city

Maybe Ginger can put in a Headstart Day Care center for all the shitheads. After all, she seems to cater to them.

Great arrest to 2262C on Thursday morning. In broad daylight, at 10am, an upstanding resident of Englewood, a M/1/49, self admitted black p stone, was attempting to remove the tires from a resident's automobile. The savage had all the lug nuts off and was about to take the tire and bring it to his vehicle, which he had conveniently parked a few houses to the north in the alley(for cover since his car would be seen had he "pult up" to the yard in which he attempted to steal the tires. A concerned citizen called 911 and according to the arrest report, BT 2262C made the arrest for attempt theft. AWESOME job! We need to keep our eyes and ears open. It's happening in BROAD DAYLIGHT in our own backyards. If you see something, say something. Call them out on it, call police. We need to let them know we are not candyland and they are not welcome coming here to do as they please and get away with it. Lucky he wasn't in my backyard. If I saw him, his bullet riddled body would be carried out by the medical examiner with his tire iron in his fist that he used to attempt to swing at me. Again, great job by 022 in getting here in time to grab the savage and lock him up. KUDOS!

Hey Lib Hippie,

Lets extrapolate your logic to the individual who burglarizes your house or steals your car. Its only a non-violent property crime, so we had better not send him away to prison where he will come out more violent. Your property can be replaced, but this mans well-being is more important.
By the way, Hippie, I don't know the specifics of the case mentioned, but a regular tactic of drug sellers (you know, the ones who harm children, use guns to settle problems, and ruin neighborhoods)is to only have a small amount of product on their person so if they are caught they will be able to say that it was for personal use and that they have a problem. Then the libs say, "Look at that poor, poor boy who had a problem that those evil Police locked up for a non-violent drug crime. He needs therapy, not prison."

The Walgreens project was supposed to go all the way to the old Fat Tommys, which was to be knocked down. The two storefronts on the west side of Kedzie, behind Walgreens were also slated to be torn down.

They now say that the cost will be too much to extend the project all the way west. The two vacant storefronts are to be rehabbed, for the same reason.

Why can't we??
Just use the standard ghetto response if/when the cops show-up...I didn't see nothing, I didn't hear nothing.

Totally different arguments. First, booze was legal and socially acceptable before prohibition and it was a minority of citizens who wanted it made illegal (kind of like Obamas programs).
Second, you can regulate it but drugs are cheap already and making it legal will only make it cost more. The black market will continue for those who can't afford the legal stuff. The illegal drug trade cut, but not eliminated.
Third, I can live with the legalization of marijuana, but the other drugs are much more devastating in their effects upon individuals and their families. You would have a whole new crop of junkies. Who wants to work with a person who may be high? Or a high person watching your children? A new breed of DUI offenders who are harder to prosecute because you really need blood tests for a good case. The new crop of junkies would soon lose their jobs from their addiction and start committing property crimes to get money for drugs. The mean ones would do robberies and home invasions. Do you have any idea the percentage of crimes committed in the name of drug use???????

I agree! Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I guarantee if it was his neighbor with the weed, he'd be congratulating the Officers. Maybe next time we'll call this moron and see if we can get his approval to make the arrest!

That was an amusing trapeze act of perverse sociology, but really, the original poster did bring up an argument that truly IS one and the same.

Drug free and safe aren't always the same thing - its a strange concept, even I have a problem with being comfortable with it with all of the force we exert to BELIEVE that we are doing good things making these silly pot arrests, but really, if the black market loses ground, the black market loses ground. Legalization (but not without some level of control and prudence) is how. How? All sorts of ways - but you and i, we are just jerks yelling on the internet, we won't single handedly mastermind the effort.

It also isn't hard to spot a drunk at work, it will be just as easy to spot a junkie - heck its not hard to do in the current day.
